Description
Unique and interesting antique Moroccan 'Nimcha' sword from the 19th century. This smaller sized sabre is the type used by pirates on the west African coast.Various stamps in the metal include the letters N D N D N, on both sides of the triple fuller blade, cross or plus symbols, half Sun or ‘eyelash’ marks and another unknown symbol.
Blade has a very small amount of rust or pitting from age but is in great condition overall. Researching stamps on the blade, I learned that it was likely made in Solingen, Germany ('The City of Blades').
Blade is 23-3/4” long, 29-1/2” total length.
Drooping quillons ending in teardrops are 4” across. Hilt is firm, no wobble.
Wooden grip in good condition, no cracks, some scratches.
Weight 1 lb 11 oz.
