Presented replica is a short, American cutlass. This type of weapon remained an official in US Navy in 1949, but was used during World War II. Reported uses in Korean War. Today, in a message released in 2010 became an official ceremonial weapon of Chief Petty Officers, division of US Navy.

This is a piece of ceremonial character. The brass hilt was casted in one form, originally decorated. The guard is straight with arms ended by rolls.
The blade is short but very wide, was double-edged. It has fuller in the middle part of the blade surface.
The set includes scabbard with wooden core, covers by black leather and strengthened by brass fittings.
