Description
Antique 18th/19th Century?, Ornate Hand-Engraved Spanish Large-Dagger Made For France. Blade measures approx. 18-inches cutting-length.Very good quality blade with beautiful hand engraving of upper-blade on both-sides, as is the cross-guard on both-sides which has the figures of a goat/ram-rams head and a fox-head enraved also on front-side of cross guard, along with engraved pommel/end-cap as per pictures. The phrase “Take me to Paris” written in Spanish is inset into the engraving on the front of the blade (at least that is what the translation-app. told me?). The blade has complicated triple-fuller/groove construction and is quite beautiful. Unusual horn-handle has elongated heart-shaped designs carved into surfaces for gripping. Please note that the construction and style of this large dagger is very similar to another antique dagger listed on eBay down to the heart-shapes on the same carved horn-handles! I would consider a part cash and trade on this dagger but only if the trade is in my favor. Condition; horn has some insect-holes around pommel/cap area but small, blade has some surface-rust at top near cross-guard underneath as per pictures, no cracks or breaks to blade that I can see, missing the scabbard/sheath. Overall very good condition for its age.
