ARGENTINE Mod 1910 SWORD ARGENTINE CREST GERMAN MADE LIBERTY LADY ATHENA GERMAN

This is an official model 1910 saber actually used by Sergeants to Colonels.
Sword is made in Germany by
Weyersberg Kirschbaum Solingen
marked on the ricasso under the gusset. The blade is tastefully etched and decorated with the gothic inscription "
Sean Eternos los Laureles
"
which it means "
May the laurels be eternal".
This is a phrase found in the Argentine National Anthem. The phrase is inside and surrounded by laurel branches. The blade is bright in very good unsharpened condition as it should be; with little scattered imperfections, scratches, handling marks, aging spots, minimal loss of finish, grease, very few fine scattered freckles or shallow pits. The bronze guard and pommel has a beautiful pleasing patina with little verdigreen and they bear the
beautiful detailed Argentine Coat of arms
and the
Medusa
. The handle is tight; it is made of black bakelite with no chips and it has a hair line crack on both sides. The gussets exhibits the profile of the
Liberty lady
on one side and the profile of the
Athena or Minerva
on the other side. Sorry It did not come with a scabbard. Book pictures for reference only.
Overall a beautiful German made 1910 sword with the Argentine Crest, the Medusa, Liberty lady and the Athena; with and etched blade. A very rare piece to find in the US.
The sword is 36 1/2" or 92 cm long.
