    Ben Barkin, known in Milwaukee for staging The Great Circus Parade, for his philanthropy and for his advocacy of civil rights and religious harmony, died of natural causes Feb. 2 at age 85. Barkin was a tireless promoter of the Great Circus Parade, an annual event that draws hundreds of thousands of people to downtown Milwaukee.
