Duke of Caxias (1803-80) Brazilian Miniature Sword/Scabbard in Presentation Box
Miniature sword and scabbard honoring the Duke of Caxias, Luis Alves de Lima e Silva of Brazil who lived from 1803 to 1880.  The sword itself has an off-white celluloid handle.  The sword is etched steel--one side reads "Duque de Caxias" and the other side contains his coat of arms.  Both the sword and scabbard are ornately carved and plated with gold.   The sword measures 5-3/4" (14.7cm) and the scabbard measures 4-7/8" (12.4cm).
The sword and scabbard and in very fine condition.  The presentation box looks to have some water damage as shown in photos.
