    Description

This is a oil painting of Lou Jacobs  who was a  neat clown with Ringling Bros Barnum & Bailey Circus and was on a postage stamp, in movies, etc.  Realism of this painting is super......He looks like he is really looking at you. The subject is taken from a 1944 Saturday Evening Post Cover July 8, 1944 (last photo is the clown/poster of POST Magazine Cover), however, the artist made some changes that can noted when looking at the poster, mainly the red wording & hat, etc.  Much of it looks very similar to the vintage cover Post poster.  Rotation of photos makes the picture look square, however, it is 30 1/2" Long and 27" wide.  Canvas painting is in a solid wood frame===== Rare painting signed by Dottie Weilmann -- THANKS FOR LOOKING.....This sale is final, as shipping costs are high.  Free shipping with buy it now. This painting had been determined to be a rare high quality painting of Lou Jacobs and the price reflects this fact. Recent announcements of the two units closing caused the value to increase after a recent value estimate. This is a quality painting in a black standard wood frame . I enjoy looking at it every day and really I am not in a hurry to say good bye to it. It came to me from the great circus state Wisconsin many years ago. Ask questions before you bid.
