From the Musha Collection comes this intricately hand forged Asahina Zetsurin katana. This Zetsurin katana is a cross between a traditional katana and a shira saya. Full tang 1045 high carbon steel makes this a resilient katana that is razor sharp right outof the box.
The detailed metal Fuchi and Kashira portrays the Asahina family crest. The Asahina family was a Japanese clan during theSengoku period who were known to be fierce warriors who were feared by all their enemies.
The Asahina Zetsurin katana is unique because it does not use any tsuba. Other than the missing tsuba, the tsuka (handle) isjust like a traditional katana with a fuchi, kashira, and menuki. This helpmake the lines of the katana stay sleek, and unobstructed by the sudden changeof shape of the tsuba.
Another unique feature on this Asahina Zetsurinkatana is the integrated Bo-Hi on the blade. Bo-Hi is commonly known as bloodgrooves, but that is a common misconception. The purpose of the Bo-Hi is tohelp reduce the weight of the katana, it actually has nothing to do with channeling the blood. Making the Katana lighter enables the user to wield thekatana better and puts less stress on the hands. Not to mention it benefits some advance cutting techniques that requires the katana to change direction rapidly.
All Musha swords are able to be fully disassembled. With Asahina Zetsurin katana you are free to add any style Tsubato turn it in to a traditional katana.
