Historical context
:
The Colombian National Police, created in 1891 with only 1,000 police officers, numbered 180,000 men and women in 2008. At the start of the twenty-first century, it was heavily involved in the long Colombian armed conflict as it had previously been in La Violencia. She also fights against drug cartels.
In 1900, its first organizer was a French police commissioner, Jean Marie Marcelin Gilibert. It thus subdivides into 1 metropolitan police (Bogota) 32 departmental districts united into 8 police regions, like the French police.
