Unusual Spanish Artillery machete short sword TRIGUERO MALAGA blade Toledo hilt

Description

A very interesting and unusual piece this is an artillery machete of original French design (Napoleonic era) later on adopted by Spain as their Model of 1834 of which very few specimens are known; However, the blade in this piece was made in the city of Malaga, Spain, very probably much earlier during the Napoleonic occupation of most of Spain when most of the Spanish arms industry in the north(Basque country, Oviedo and Toledo) was occupied by the invaders and what remained was moved to southern Spain which was the only part of the Iberian peninsula which remained out of French control ; There weapons were made by many private concerns of which TRIGUERO may have been one ; Later on, I speculate, the old blade was matched to a Toledo made Model of 1843 Infantry Pioneer machete's brass handle and cross guard by unknown parties, maybe during one of the three Carlist Civil Wars of the 19th century in order to refurbish and reutilize older weapons which was common practice at that time ; For "condition description" please see above ; This is a very old weapon reeking of history for the knowledgeable collector, probably one of a kind; I truly hate to say goodbye to this one but what still remains of my forty plus year old collection will continue to be sold gradually over the next few months until exhausted due to my age; PLEASE BE SURE OF YOUR DECISION TO BUY IT BEFORE DOING SO in order to prevent any unnecessary disappointments, incidents, or returns; S&H via USPS PRIORITY included in purchase price; Feedback at the end of a hopefully mutually satisfactory transaction; With regrets and apologies NO international sales due to confusing regulations and restrictions and the high cost of shipping; THANK YOU.
