    Description

This Edged Weapon is called a Kukri Jungle Fighting Sword. I have done much research on this unit which I have had for many years. My father told me that this piece was a WW2 Bring Back from the India,Burma,China theater, where he was at that time serving as an Army Air Corps Flyer. I will describe what else I know: This sword measures 36 inches long overall with a 30 inch long blade x 2 15/16 at its widest point.
    This hand forged sword
does not fit any of the Kukri or Khukri types such as the much smaller knives which can be ordered on line all day long. It is too large to fit into the
    Long Leaf military category
which goes up to 13 to 18 inches long and the
    Nepalese Bull Head
types are close to 48 inches long and still made these days by one premier craftsman in Nepal
. The Bull Head units are ceremonial in nature and used for beheading a sacrificial water buffalo in one stroke and cost 0-0 to have made. This ceremony is from Nepal but not India and
this listing is dot engraved India.
    Further more
Kukri is the Indian word for these type knives and Khukri is the Nepalese word.
The Gurkha troop units from Nepal are equipped with much smaller knives.
    The
    longer blades
are most difficult to make and the task is always accomplished by
'Born Kukri or Khukri Makers' called Biswakarmas
. These are craftsmen who are born into a Kukri or Khukri makers family and learn the craft from childhood.
My research shows that this hand forged sword could date back to the British Colonial Victorian era in India.
These type edged units were versatile and sometimes used for utilitarian purposes as well as jungle fighting weapons when needed but this particular 36 inch long knife is very heavy for extended use and more suited for combat.
One more element of this listing is that it has three fullers on the both side of the blade
which indicates the military fighting nature of this edged weapon
. Some military Khukris are made with one fuller or multiple fullers matching on both sides of the individual blades and can also indicate who made the knives
but such is not the case with this listing.
This sword has three fullers on both sides but do to the hand hammered nature of the making process these fullers from side to side do not match.  The photos are detailed so you know what you are looking at and there is one photo with a scale next to the sword for size perspective. This is a rare find for only one buyer in the ebay community. Thank you all for looking.
