Description
Here is a superb Cossack kindjal, made by Caucasian gunsmiths. The kindjal is a traditional Russian weapon, it can be called a large knife or a dagger. These superb pieces were most of the time made by local Caucasian craftsmen (Omarov, Guzunov ...) or official and necessarily more regulatory factories, such as the Zlatoust or Tula factory. Kindjals were widely used in the Russian Empire until the end of it in 1917. We also know a few examples made during the Soviet era, but they were only decorative or ceremonial weapons, used during military parades.Total length :

This magnificent dagger is composed of a black handle inlaid with silver plating chiseled on the rivets as well as on the scabbard buckle. With an extremely rare blade in the shape of a sword, inspired by French models, a beautiful blade still shiny, some traces due to time without gravity. The scabbard is sewn leather covered with a silver trim too. No play, very nice and solid piece. Nicolas II or Alexander III period.
