    Description

    Historical context
    :
Louis XVI declares the new Assembly worthless but lets it sit without intervening openly. On May 25, French Guards marched through Paris in favor of the rebellious deputies and the Parisian voters met in assembly. But, from the 26th, marching orders were issued to six regiments and a troop of around 20,000 men, a "real small army" which was called to the outskirts of the capital in order to maintain order in Paris and Versailles. . But the whole of the Parisian population is agitated: the bourgeoisie is afraid for the survival of the Assembly; the people fear that the troops will cut off the Parisian supply routes when the price of bread is at its highest. At the beginning of July, riots broke out at the roadblocks. The king dismisses his ministers deemed too liberal, including Necker, Comptroller of Finance, dismissed on July 11 and invited to leave the Kingdom.
    Model history
    :
Montmorency sabers from the end of the reign of Louis XVI, there are single branch sabers of this type and as there were no regulations at the time, private furbishers worked according to the fancy and the financial means of the corps commander, to the troop or officer's weapons for his personal sword. This explains the differences in quality in the materials used, in the carving and the decoration. This model will still be used after the revolution. The saber here present was made like this, without a hilt. However, during this period, the sabers with a guard, had to be accommodated to resemble the model present on this announcement.
