    Historical context
    :
    During the First World War, the parachute was used by balloonists (observers installed in the pods of captive balloons). Indeed, during General Joffre's autumn offensive in Champagne, the ballooning lost several balloons. The command then asks the center of Chalais-Meudon to find a parade. We immediately thought of arming the nacelle, but two ballooning officers, Lieutenant Jumesch and Captain Letourneur, suggested using the parachute. A prototype was tested by Lieutenant Jean Ors in 1914, then by Constant Duclos, a marine rifleman, in 1915. Contrary to popular belief, no aircraft pilot was equipped with it except the Germans from 1918. C It was at the end of this war that the Allies had the idea of ​​using the parachute to set up a military unit. However, the first practical tests did not take place until 1930 in the Soviet Union. In the middle of the decade, Germany also took an interest in it.
