Description
Historical context:
Here is a superb Cossack kindjal, made by Caucasian or Ottoman gunsmiths. The kindjal is a traditional Russian weapon, it can be called a large knife or a dagger. These superb pieces were mostly made by local Caucasian craftsmen (Omarov, Guzunov...) or official and necessarily more regulatory factories, such as the Zlatoust or Tula factory. The kindjals were widely used in the Russian Empire until the end of it in 1917. We also know some examples made during the Soviet era, but they were only decorative or ceremonial weapons, used during military parades.

Description
:
Magnificent, large and massive
Kindjal sword / dagger
.
The handle is in brown horn with silver rivets and inlays called ''Tchern''. The blade is in good condition, quite sharp and very solid, it has a central groove, with traces due to time. Ottoman kindjal inspired by Caucasian models, with its original scabbard, leather, wood and brass or bronze. The cope is quite massive and superbly decorated and inlaid with lion heads. Part sold as is, as shown in the photos and in the description. Kindjal recovered in France from a private individual, I parted with it for lack of space in the window.
The kindjal is 100% original and from the late 19th, early 20th century. You will find more information on the subject in the books of A.N. Kulinski or in the gazette of weapons n°184, of December 1988.
By purchasing this rare Cossack kindjal, you will be in possession of a magnificent witness to the tragic Russian history of the beginning of the 20th century. But also a formidable weapon and very finely decorated by the best Russian and Ottoman gunsmiths of the time
