Description
Historical context:
Here is a superb Cossack kindjal, made by Caucasian gunsmiths. The kindjal is a traditional Russian weapon, it can be called a large knife or a dagger. These superb pieces were most of the time made by local Caucasian craftsmen (Omarov, Guzunov ...) or official and necessarily more regulatory factories, such as the Zlatoust or Tula factory. Kindjals were widely used in the Russian Empire until the end of it in 1917. We also know of a few examples made during the Soviet era, but they were only decorative or ceremonial weapons, used during military parades.
