Vintage Philippines Fighting Knife Sword Bolo Machete 28" Southern Mindanao Moro

This has been in our family since 1986 when we were living/working on the southern tip the
Island of Mindanao in a small town called Polomolok.  We would travel 1 hour to the town of General Santos City-
it is the Southern most city in The Philippines, to shop for food and collectibles like this one.
For a Filipino to sell something like this, that has 'probably' been in their family forever…they would have to be desperate for money, at least I do remember being told that…I remember the man vividly that I purchased it from, he didn't speak any English…I paid him the amount of Pesos that he asked me for (no clue what that was so long ago in US dollars)…I didn't haggle with him as I know it was 'sad' for him to sell it
…
Our adult children do not want it, so we have made the decision to sell some of the items we purchased while living there for 3 years!  I really hope that the buyer purchases it for them to enjoy, and not to re-sell it somewhere….I hope it gets a 'nice new home' for the next 40 years!  :-)
This knife is
unbelievably sharp, it is NOT A TOY to play around with.

I have honestly to the best of my ability…believe that all the information I have included in this listing is accurate and true….
When the bolo/sword is tightly in its hand made wooden sheath, it measures
approximately 28" long.
When out of the wooden sheath,
it measures
approximately 26" long.
The blade only from tip to end where it meets the wooden piece
measures
approximately 16.5" long.
The blade is I believe it is 'rust' on it?  I didn't want to take any chemicals to it to attempt to remove the rust as I didn't want it to be
damaged…
In the 7th photo you can see on the wood sheath part that the 'inlay' is missing in most of the carved spots.
It has a nice rope that appears to have been put on it when it was originally hand made.  We always had it hanging by the rope on our large Philippine 'GONG".
To the best of my knowledge, I believe that the 'hair' that you see on it is genuine 'horse hair', at least that is what I remember learning about it while living in The Philippines.
We will ship this via either USPS, UPS or FedEx depending on your location for a flat fee of , it will have 'adult signature required' at delivery.  Because of its length/allowing for a good sized box to protect it, the USPS adds an additional .00 for 'over-sized' package…(we have included the in the flat fee of )
