Vintage? Sword with Etched Blade Brass Lion Handle Velvet Sheath Made In India

I apologize for my lack of knowledge about this piece and would welcome any information
you may have!
35" overall;  blade is 30".  Blade has an etched design along entire length on both sides.
"Made in India" etched near hilt on one side.  There are letters/words on the other side too
but I cannot make out what they say; maybe a name?   See pictures.
Blade is lightly stained/tarnished.  I did not clean or polish.  Hilt is brass colored and has
no reaction to magnet; lion head handle.  Brass accents on sheath.  Velvet shows
some wear.
