Wood replica Scottish basket hilted sword claidheamh beag broadsword for use in SCA or other living history reenactments or training. The basket hand guard is welded steel (showing minor signs of rust), the blade is wood with a foam rubber or similar material padding wrapped in white tape. The point is similarly padded. Overall length is 42 inches, the blade length is 35 1/2 inches. The basket is very large, permitting use with an armored hand, or a hockey glove, if they still use those in SCA. Not very well balanced, but I don't have the armored glove to test swinging it. You may find it fine or can make adjustments. About 4 lbs in weight. Previous owner was re-enacting the Scots Greys, but I don't know if he used it as the pattern 1796 heavy cavalry sword or he just had it for other impressions. Kept in smoke free pet free home.
